9. Chasing waterfalls in Tennessee
In 2018 I moved from my home in Oregon to live in Tennessee for a few years while my partner pursued a Master’s program. This last year was a difficult lesson in accepting and finding beauty in a new home. Leaving the Pacific Northwest was absolutely heart breaking, and it took me a long time to embrace Tennessee. But I have loved seeing all these incredible places that I would have never seen otherwise, or even known they existed. There is so much beauty in this world in even the most unexpected of places, so it was a good lesson in keeping my eyes and mind open to the possibilities, and always keeping a positive attitude.

1. Yosemite Sunrise
I began 2019 with a winter road trip through three national parks in California: Yosemite, Sequoia, and Death Valley. This trip was monumental because it set the intention for the whole year: to begin my photography business, start taking self portraits, and push my photography skills and creativity further than I ever had. Winter can make for some dramatic but challenging conditions, so after multiple cloudy sunsets, I finally captured this bucket list shot of the last rays of sunset cutting across El Capitan.
