Happy hoa hoa season 🍎 - swipe for how I edited th Happy hoa hoa season 🍎 - swipe for how I edited this! I went apple picking as part of my fall adventures last year and I jokingly took this image - and then of course had to give it a full edit to match the Twilight cover. It only took about 3 minutes which I've sped up to 10 seconds (and now that I've done it once it would probably just take a minute!). Photoshop is basically Lightroom's intimidating older cousin but secretly she's a total sweetheart (ie once you get the hang of it it's actually pretty easy to use!). All it takes is creating a selection for the apple (which with photoshop's selection and AI tools it's SO easy). Inverting the selection (everything but the apple). Convert that selection to black-and-white. I also darkened it for more contrast, and then created a second selection for the backdrop (again, easy to select "subject" and then invert it). The easiest thing to do then is just to paint the color black all over to get rid of the backdrop. Then you're done! (SAVE) this for your WV fall list! 🚂🍂⬇️ There's (SAVE) this for your WV fall list! 🚂🍂⬇️ There's a train in West Virginia that takes you through an autumn wonderland - and you NEED to ride it at least once in your life! This is the 📍 Cass Scenic Railroad in Pocahontas County. The train ride lasts around 5 hours and takes you up to Bald Knob, the third highest peak in West Virginia. Tickets are quite expensive, starting at $85, but the views are truly so magical that I think it was absolutely worth doing it! I almost didn't share this post ... But then I re I almost didn't share this post ... But then I remembered why I TRULY made this account. I remembered every time I've ever received a DM from a woman who told me she started solo traveling because she saw me do it first. Or the DMs from women who now will visit a place they had never imagined doing - because I had showed them it was possible. I remember my great aunt who wasn't afraid to travel and saw so much of the world, despite being unmarried, and who gave me my middle name. I remember my grandma being one of the first Americans to enter China when it reopened - whose bracelet she bought there I still wear. I remember my mother, who moved all the way across the country away from her family to start her own path. Who dared to pursue a job women "just didn't do". Who made sure I had a passport, brought me on every trip, and taught me to love travel. And I remember all the women who came before us who never had any of these opportunities. Who couldn't have even dreamed of even having their own money, to travel without a husband, to even leave their home. So I'll keep showing women that I know they are capable of so much more. That they deserve to see the world. That they don't have to dream small. That to fight the ugliness of the world they have to dare to enter it. To encourage other women to do the same. To keep showing up when it's difficult. To be soft when the world is hard. To continue the battle our mothers and aunts and grandmothers and great grandmothers in hopes of a better tomorrow. So please keep solo traveling my sisters. There is darkness in the world but there is also hope, and so so much joy.
